USB TV Tuner Reviews

I review USB TV tuners from some of the biggest tuner manufacturers. I will not be reviewing internal TV tuner cards (PCMCIA, PCI) because USB TV tuners work with any computer, desktop or laptop, are easy to move between computers and installation is much easier.

My USB TV tuner reviews are intended to help the average consumer choose the best USB TV tuner for them based on a number of factors. All of the tuners reviewed are excellent tuners and should provide a great user experience. Tuners have different features and excel in certain areas or functions more than others. Based on how you expect to use a tuner who may place more value on a particular function of feature than someone who will the a tuner entirely differently and may have no need for particular feature so there is no need paying for something you don’t need.

For example, many people will use their tuner primarily to watch TV away from home where they will watch predominately over the signals so over the air reception and size will be more important than someone who will use theirs primarily in one location, as a replacement for their DVR, as an FM radio receiver or to capture VHS or other analog signals onto their computer.

Items considered in the reviews include:

  • Features
  • Ease of setup/installation
  • Compatibility with operating systems
  • Overall picture quality
  • Over the air signal reception
  • Reliability and manufacturer reputation
  • Included accessories
